An Artists Paradise

The Murrindindi Region boasts some of Victoria's richest and prettiest landscapes. Our natural waterways and lush valleys have inspired and attracted many artists, sculptors and potters to the area. There is a wealth of galleries, Antique houses and studios scattered right throughout the region awaiting your exploration.

For artists who are looking for new inspiration there are plenty of sites to wet your canvas with. Willowbank Gallery at Taggerty also hold special artist workshops on a regular basis which are always very popular. There are always local artists works on display in many of our cafes, pubs and restaurants and The Alexandra Rotary Easter Art Show is always well patronized

If you're looking to take home a piece of Murrindindi then our local markets will certainly make your choice challenging. Most of our towns hold community markets where you can find locally made jewellery, handy crafts, art, local produce, food, woodwork, clothes, knitwear and plants.

The markets fall in the following order:

Easter is always a big event for Alexandra with the streets closed on the Sunday for a Food, Wine and Art festival with over 50 stalls participating along with music and activities for the kids. You'll find all there is to eat and buy from local producers and winemakers at this event. A must see is Bruno's Sculpture Garden in Marysville. Bruno has a private collection of art and sculptures uniquely displayed in his rainforest like garden.

Marysville also hosts an automotive museum which has a display of horse-drawn carts and a range of vintage vehicles.
